The skin of newborns and infants is very thin and delicate. The epidermis is not very elastic and has a different reaction than adult skin, so you need to pay special attention to the care and selection of cosmetics. The most important thing is to take care of cleanliness and prevent chafing, abrasions and allergic reactions. We also choose mild cosmetics for children for older children - washing and care products.

What to pay attention to in the care of a newborn baby?
Bath
Bathing newborns is an important part of care, it should be almost a daily ritual. If the baby is not sweaty, and the heat does not reign, it can sometimes be omitted, provided that thoroughly cleanse the bottom of the bottom with every change of diaper and daily wash of the folds of the skin and neck. The baby should be bathed for about five or ten minutes. At the end of the bath, you can add a little delicate cleaning agent to the water. Generally, in the first month of the baby's life, no cosmetics are recommended.
We use emollients only if there is a need, e.g. a doctor or doctor found atopic dermatitis. A drop of such an agent will help you oil the skin. The skin can peel a few weeks after birth and this is a normal physiological process. The child gets rid of the epidermis from the period of fetal life and there is no reason to unrest. Especially with fingers, the skin can peel more.
Paradoxically, clean water is the most important cosmetic for a child from birth to two years old. Washed a few days and a few weeks of Bobo with clean water, even on days it is not bathed. Gently wipe the skin with cotton pads soaked in warm water (it can be boiled) and bathe in water with the addition (only if there are problems, e.g. AD, emollient). We wipe the eyes from the outside. Do not rub, just dry them gently. After bathing, you do not have to lubricate the baby's baby with a cream. Use it only when the need arises, i.e. a burn appears. Instead of a baby bath
It is important to wash your face, folds and of course the baby's face every day. Wash it with water every day. Choose disposable wipes soaked in water for exits from home, e.g. Waterwipes. You must not wash the skin of toddlers with a handkerchief with other means, because thin skin does not tolerate them as well as in adults, and any harmful substances penetrate more easily deep into the body. In addition, other ingredients can have other undesirable side effects.
Baby bath cosmetics
Cosmetics for children with emollients They are in second place right after clean water. Let's use very little, and preferably at all. Even the best products for children can sensitize them. The emollient should be used in the case of skin problems, e.g. when the newborn skin is peeling. However, it must not be used if seborrheic dermatitis occurs, because it will stick the pores even more.
The child's skin will already be protected using a minimum amount of bathing oil. You will not allow irritation. The infant must be from a few to several minutes when changing without a diaper and clothes so that the skin can breathe freely. Remember, however, that it does not freeze and cover them with a slightly loose diaper or a breathable blanket.
Immediately after bathing, you can use a special diaper cream if necessary, which prevents diaper dermatitis, e.g. Azeta BIO: Organic diaper cream with Inca Inchi oil.
A good proposition created in 95% of organic ingredients is the brand product Azeta BIO: Emollient for baby rice starch. This is a vegan cosmetic, so it will appeal to the parents who also have the good of animals. Ordinary potato starch will also work.
If there are burns, we grease your bottom with cream against panthenol. Tfor the most important active ingredient of such specifics. Doctors do not recommend preventive use to prevent problems, because the skin must breathe). Zinc oxide creams can sensitize children, so let's use them carefully and only against chafing after the medical recommendation. There are a lot of brands to choose from, which have such creams in their offer. The safest is the use of ordinary potato flour in the event of burns and heat. The flour is ecological and completely safe, not allergic, but it absorbs moisture well.
How to choose other cosmetics for babies
- Buy and choose only odorless preparations and intended for babies. The most important thing is that they are tested, allowed for use and preferably containing only natural ingredients.
- In our opinion, you should choose cosmetics with infant certificate. This basic is the approval of the National Institute of Hygiene, you can also look for additional recommendations of the Institute of Mother and Child or Children's Health Center.
- Check the composition of the products. Despite the fact that petroleum jelly and cosmetic paraffin are well cleaned, they are not natural products, they do not let in air, so try to avoid them.
- Cosmetics for the youngest should be without any perfumes, dyes and other unnecessary ingredients. They can sensitize or cause other side effects.
- The percentage composition is easy to determine because the manufacturer is obliged to give it in a quantitative order from the main ingredient to the one who is the least. It is therefore worth checking whether there are many beneficial substances.
- Adult preparations must not be used because they irritate the child's skin. Check from what age a given cosmetic can be used. Never bend this rule.
- Also pay attention to the method of storing creams and liquids in the store - They should be away from heat sources, insufficient for direct sunlight. It's best to find something that has been in a shady, cool and dry place.
Product certificates are also an important indicator of cosmetics quality. Known and recognized certificates are, for example, Ecocert, Cosmos Organic, Natrue, bdih, Soil Association or EU green leaf marking. An ecological cosmetic that meets the requirements of the green leaf is one whose composition in at least 95% consists of ecological ingredients. It must also meet other harsh conditions compared to the remaining 5% of the ingredients. Cream or oil with one or several of the above certificates does not contain synthetic or artificial ingredients.
If the baby has skin problems, e.g. atopic dermatitis, only cosmetics for babies with such a problem should be used. Otherwise, problems will increase. If the toddler has sweets, then let's check if he is not overheating, whether clothes and diapers are only made of natural fabrics. We will also consult a pediatrician.

From the second year of life, children have tolerated more, so we don't have to be as careful as at the beginning, but you should still buy only cosmetics for the youngest. Washing agents should be mild so that they do not dry the skin excessively or cause irritation.
The rules listed above are still applicable, but slowly children can start choosing cosmetics for themselves. Soaps should be delicate and intended for children. A lot of soaps dries the skin and sometimes promotes the formation of eczema, so the cubes with the addition of precious oils are better. From the third year of life, you can start diversifying baths with colorful and oiling bath salts or bath balls. Such specifics often contain cleaning and oiling agents such as avocado oil or grape seeds.
