Learning to read - the most popular methods

There are many effective reading methods. What are they about and how they differ from each other?

  • Letter method - It requires quite a lot of time, because the child must learn the alphabet and efficiently associate individual letters. The next stage is to create simple words, which consists of uncomplicated sentences.
  • Syllable method - A simple and effective method on which many primers are based for first graders. In the initial stage, the child learns vowels and then creates connections with consonants. The first simple sentences can be created from several syllables.
  • Global method - the toddler is presented all the words, not separating them into letters or syllables. The method is effective in the case of children who have not previously had contact with letters. It can be quite complicated for parents, but it is not impossible to master! It requires better substantive preparation and creativity from an adult - you should combine fun with learning.
  • Impression method - an innovative reading model that effectively catches the attention of the youngest. Different senses of the child are involved in learning. If the hero of the story performs a specific activity (e.g. laughs), then a parent with a child can do the same at that time. Engaging a toddler in performing simple activities affects a better understanding of the words read.
  • ODDIVE METHOD - The first word that the child meets is his own name. Then the names of the closest family members and peers are attached to the science. This is how the toddler meets individual letters. The emotional aspect of words and meanings important to him means that the child quickly remembers new issues. The next step is to explore words from the neighboring environment - this is how you can quickly master the entire alphabet!
